Dr Markus Nikitins
Markus Nikitins' early surgical training commenced in the mid 1990's with rotations through all South Australia's major teaching hospitals. His advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery included experience at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, home to the Bernard O'Brien Institute of Microsurgery, and also the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, complementing previous training in the management of cutaneous malignancy.
Following completion of Plastic Surgery Specialist Training 2005, he undertook further post-fellowship training in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. He had already established an interest in Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery, gaining further experience in the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. The two year post-fellowship Programme involved training with the Queensland Craniofacial Service at Mater Children's, Royal Children's and Royal Brisbane Hospitals, with additional experience at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the Australian Craniofacial Unit.
During his training he has undertaken research into various aspects of Plastic and Craniomaxillofacial Surgery with several presentations at State and National Annual Scientific Meetings. Elements of his research have gained publication in peer reviewed surgery journals.
He has been actively involved in teaching programmes interstate and locally with a special interest involving Craniofacial Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of Overseas Specialist Surgical Association of Australia (OSSAA) and was a team member to Flores, Indonesia in March 2007and April 2010.
He has been appointed as a Visiting Specialist Plastic Surgeon in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Flinders Medical Centre, offering General, Paediatric, Hand, Craniofacial Trauma and Cleft Plastic Surgical management.
His private consultation practice is at South Terrace and Modbury Medical Centre. Procedures are undertaken at Sach Day Surgery, St Andrew's Hospital, and Flinders Medical Centre.
